P²SI awarded Phase II SBIR program for a fiber surface modification to enhance the interlaminar shear strength of 2-D ceramic matrix composites

Monday, September 3, 2007-- Centerville, OH. Performance Polymer Solutions Inc. was awarded a Phase II program to enhance the interlaminar shear strength of 2-D ceramic matrix composites. P²SI's low cost approach avoids the problems and costs associated with 3-D preforms. The P²SI approach is based on patented technology whereby carbon nanotubes are fused to the surface of reinforcing fibers which translates into a unique reinforcing microstructure.
